Contractor Arrested in Connection to Kumahri Flyover Case
RAIPUR: The senior engineer has been arrested in connection to the accident caused on the Kumhari Flyover on Friday night last week, said police. A complaint for negligence has been filed against the contractor of the Royal Infra Construction Limited company that had taken the construction of the flyover.
An LoC has been issued for the company’s directors Jitendra Jain, Shreyansh Jain, project head Anirudh Jain and project manager Santanu Malik. A case has been regered under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 337 (causing hurt act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code,
A couple and a biker died on the intervening nights of Friday and Saturday from the incomplete Kumhari flyover on the Durg-Raipur road in Chhattisgarh. The pillion of the biker, his 12 year old daughter was severly injured and hospitalized. A car of a couple identified as Aajuram and Nirmala plunged into a pit of about 30 feet.
Officials who investigated the case stated that the missing warning signs and barricades led to the death of the couple. The incident took place at the under-construction overbridge on National Highway 53.
