IPL 2023: Matthew Wade is ready when required Gujarat Titans

He may not have got into the XI as yet, but Matthew Wade is keen to keep himself ready whenever Gujarat Titans need his services. The left-handed Australian wicketkeeper-batsman was seen on the franchise official Facebook handle working hard in the nets, on his range hitting and basically dispatching the ball as far as possible.
There were hits down the ground, pull shots, and slashes through the offside in the video.
With the defending champions starting this season pretty much as they ended the last one – with two successive victories – the coaching staff may not be too willing to durb a winning combination, especially with David Miller fitting in seamlessly after Kane Williamson was ruled out of the tournament with a long-term injury.

Alzarri Joseph, Rashid Khan and Josh Little have done well as overseas personnel in the middle. Wriddhiman Saha has also excelled behind the stumps.
But the utility of Wade, a T20 World Cup winner himself, in the late-middle order can’t be discounted.

The experience of the 35-year-old may be handy in crucial situations, and there’s always the x-factor of the Impact Player if the team feels the need for an impetus in the final few overs. He is a player short of stature, not determination, as his victorious battle against testicular cancer proves.
Wade and Gujarat will feature next in the IPL against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday, April 9.
