IPL 2023: Aman Khan credits Ishant Sharma for Delhi Capitals win over Gujarat Titans
Delhi Capitals batter Aman Khan credited Ishan Sharma for Delhi Capital’s five-run win over Gujarat Titans in a low-scoring game on Tuesday in Ahmedabad.
Rahul Tewatia brought down the target to 12 off the final six deliveries smashing three successive sixes off Anrich Nortje’s last three deliveries in the penultimate over but spliced an easy catch at extra cover off Ishant Sharma’s length ball to give Delhi its third win in the last four matches.
“Our bowlers had to bowl really well to defend the total against table-topper GT.
A resounding away victory for @DelhiCapitals 🥳🥳#DC was full of belief tonight and they reger a narrow 5-run win in Ahmedabad 👏🏻👏🏻

“It was a collective effort but that last over Ishant Sharma bowled was excellent. He looked very confident.
“A lot of credit goes to Ishan Sharma for winning this match. The way Rahul Tewatia was batting and with Hardik Pandya at the crease and you know Rashid Khan, what he can do,” Aman told the reporters.
Aman Khan (51) lifted Delhi from a precarious 23-5 to 130-8 with his first-ever half-century in any format after captain David Warner won the toss and elected to bat on a wicket where fast bowlers found plenty of assance.
“It was satisfying because we won the match. Having some runs behind me now I can go into the next game with more confidence,” he said.
Deception at its best! 👊🏻
What a ball that from @ImIshant 🔥🔥#GT have lost four wickets now and this is turning out to be a tricky chase!

“The last month has been pretty difficult because games haven’t gone our way. We have lost a couple of close games. I don’t know how does the qualification looks like; we are looking to win all games from here,” he added.
Khan said the Ahemdab wicket was bit sticky, and early wickets kind of made life easier for him as he didn’t had to take unnecessary risks.
“It was a little sticky from one side. Their spinners also bowled really well. I feel that in the T20 when we usually go out to bat, we look to score runs and that’s why we lost wickets.
“It was easier for me because I didn’t have to take that many risks because we had already lost too many wickets. I was just looking to bat normally. Hitting big shots was really difficult on that wicket and with the bowling attack,” he said.
It was Aman’s first fifty in the IPL, and he said he just wanted to grab the opportunity.
A fine half-century when the going got tough 👏🏻👏🏻
Maiden IPL fifty for Aman Khan 👌🏻👌🏻

“I was going into bat with 30-ball 100 required. I wasn’t low on confidence. In the previous game I played in Hyderabad, I went in a similar situation and threw my wicket over there. I was disappointed with myself and I was just thinking that If I can get another opportunity like that.”
Khan also revealed he only played because of Mitchell Marsh’s sickness. He said: “In fact, today I wasn’t going to play. Mitchell Marsh got sick and I came into the side. I just wanted to grab the opportunity.”
Khan admitted that being his childhood coach Pravin Amre around it made his life more easier.
“He has never asked me to change my game ever since I have played under him. He has always tried to improve my game rather than expecting me to change my game.
“Him being around I feel confident because I have someone who has seen me since my childhood days and he knows where I am going wrong and what I am doing right. It is a plus point for me I think,” he said.
