Watch: Ravichandran Ashwin takes a wicket in just his second delivery in TNPL
Ravichandran Ashwin, who is captaining the Dindigul Dragons in the Tamil Nadu Premier League, showed what India missed in the World Test Championship final when he snapped up the wicket of Ba11sy Trichy’s Daryl Ferrario in just his second delivery of the match.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Trichy were all out for 120 with Ashwin bowling 4 overs and giving away 26 runs while taking the wicket of Ferrario as well as opposite captain Ganga Sridhar Raju.
Earlier in the day, Ashwin retained his number 1 spot in the ICC Test bowlers’ rankings despite not getting selected in the World Test Championship final against Australia. India would go on to lose the match 209 runs and experts would slam the Indian team management for not starting the veteran spinner.

Even legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar questioned the omission of Ashwin from the playing XI at the Oval.
“I fail to understand the exclusion of @ashwinravi99 in the playing XI, who is currently the number one Test bowler in the world,” Sachin wrote on Twitter.
Sachin lamented team managment decision to not play Ashwin despite the fact that Australia had five left-handed batter in their playing XI.
“Like I had mentioned before the match, skillful spinners don’t always rely on turning tracks, they use drift in the air and bounce off the surface to disguise their variations,” said Sachin.
“Not to forget, Australia had 5 left-handers out of their top 8 batters,” he added.
