Three unarmed villagers, including a father and son pair, were killed in a new incident of violence in the Bishnupur district of Manipur early this morning, according to local residents. Police sources said suspected militants raided the village of Ukha Tampak near Kwakta in Bishnupur around 2am and started shooting indiscriminately.

The police source added that the incident caused great concern as the attackers tried to penetrate the buffer zone, between hills and valleys, which is guarded by central security forces.
