IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2023 report card: Pakan bowlers sizzle, Indian top order fizzles as rain washes out match | Cricket News
India vs Pakan Asia Cup 2023 report card: The rain played spoilsport as the high voltage clash between India and Pakan was called off on Saturday.
There was a forecast of rain in this match and ultimately that came true as Pakan did not get a chance to chase India’s set target of 266 runs.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf rained fire on the Indian batting lineup as the Men in Blue were reduced to 66/4 at one point. From there, Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya rebuilt the innings and a late flurry Jasprit Bumrah helped India post a decent total.
Here’s a quick form-check of Team India after the game:
Rohit Sharma (11 runs)
The Indian skipper looked to have luck on his side when he was dropped in the first over of the match and got a boundary off it to boot. He would score another and looked to be in control before rain came in and halted the match. After the match was restarted, Rohit could not add anything else to his total when he was cleaned up Shaheen Shah Afridi for 11.
Shubman Gill (10 runs)
His opening partner Shubman Gill did not have much luck as well and after a fairly slow start, the youngster was bowled Haris Rauf for just 10 runs after playing 32 deliveries.
Virat Kohli (4 runs)
Former skipper Virat Kohli started like a man on a mission when he got off the mark with a boundary. His stay, however, would be short. In the 3rd ball of the 7th over Afridi, Kohli dangled his bat outside the line, hesitantly, unsurely, and it ricocheted off the inner edge to fall on his stumps.
Shreyas Iyer (14 runs)
Iyer who was returning from an injury looked to be devoid off any rust as he took little time to settle, doing so with double boundaries. However, he could not convert his start as he was dismissed a sharp catch Fakhar Zaman in midwicket for 14 runs.
Ishan Kishan (82 runs)
Kishan was the only Indian batter who seemed to know how to navigate the conditions as well as the Pakan pace battery. After close chances where he almost got caught, the batter opted to play smart as he found gaps and kept the bowlers at bay. He led the fightback and steadied Indian innings along with Hardik Pandya with a well-made 82.
Hardik Pandya (87 runs)
The bombastic Baroda batter initially acted as a perfect foil to Kishan and played a much restrained role as his younger partner let loose the shackles. However, after Kishan was back in the hut, Pandya changed gears and took it to the Pakan bowlers with a gritty 87.
Ravindra Jadeja (14 runs)
Jadeja did not trouble the Pakan bowlers so much as his slow innings was put to the sword when he nicked an Afridi scorcher behind to Mohamnmad Rizwan for just 14 off 22 balls.
Shardul Thakur (3 runs)
Thakur who was brought into the lineup at the expense of Mohammad Shami so that India could bat deep could not do justice as he was gone for 3 runs as Shadab Khan took an excellent catch.
Jasprit Bumrah (16 runs)Most Read

Even though rain did not let him bowl a single over, Bumrah was handy with the bat when he scored 16 off 14 balls in the fag end of the innings.
Kuldeep Yadav (4 runs)
Yadav couldn’t contribute much with the bat as he was gone for just 4 runs.
Mohammed Siraj
Siraj was the only man left standing as India were all out for 266.
