Give impetus to green development: CM

To strengthen a green and sustainable economy, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday emphasized giving impetus to a regenerative development in the state.

He was chairing the maiden meeting of ‘Chhattisgarh Green Council’ here, an official communication said.

The Chief Minister said Chhattisgarh is one of the first states to constitute the Council.

Regenerative development is a progressive concept than Sustainable Development. It works to increase the income of the people through livelihood under the New Age Green Economy.

It is done through proper utilization of available resources as well as enhancing the quality of resources.

The meeting discussed branding of Chhattisgarh as a green state, market linkage of organic products, capacity building of self-help groups through training, marketing, sustainable forest, development of medicinal, herbal and other products, inviting specialist companies to Chhattisgarh, and launching a carbon credit program within the state.

Development according to the characteristics of the districts and promoting economic oriented activities by connecting local residents was also discussed. The Council’s vision and main activities were finalized.

He spoke on the different eco-friendly schemes launched by the state government in the last three years to strengthen the rural economy. He laid stress on organic farming and harnessing more solar power.
