C’garh steps up teens vaccination
Nearly 1.86 lakh children in the 15-18 age group received their first shot in Chhattisgarh on day one of Covid-19 vaccination for them on Monday.
According to the Health Department, a total of 185,906 youngsters were vaccinated.
This is more than 11 percent of the 16,39,811 in this age group in the state.
Mungeli and Dhamtari districts achieved 39 percent of the total target on the very first day.
Similarly, 37 percent of the eligible teenagers were vaccinated in Kondagaon district on day one, 20 percent in Kanker, 19 percent each in Gariaband and Durg districts, 18 percent in Balod, 15 percent in Rajnandgaon, 14 percent each in Balodabazar-Bhatapara and Mahasamund districts and 12 percent in Korea district.
The teenagers reached vaccination centers in large numbers in great enthusiasm to get themselves jabbed. Many were accompanied by parents who encouraged them to get their first shot of Covid-19 vaccine.
As many as 2,452 vaccination sites were set up for the vaccination.
Over 18,938 teens got their Covid vaccine shot in Mungeli district on Monday, 18,637 in Dhamtari, 13,434 in Kondagaon, 9,199 in Kanker, 6,904 in Gariaband, 19,519 in Durg, 8,858 in Balod, 14,846 in Rajnandgaon, 13,98 in Balodabazar-Bhatapara, 9,041 in Mahasamund, 4,602 in Korea, 4,852 in Surajpur, 7,010 in Korba and 4,524 in Kabirdham district, the statement said.
Another 3,370 were vaccinated in Jashpur district, 1,091 in Dantewada, 8,589 in Raipur, 5,611 in Janjgir-Champa, 4,065 in Bilaspur, 3,385 in Raigarh, 1,752 in Bastar, 1,501 in Balrampur-Ramanujganj, 424 in Sukma, 576 in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, 927 in Surguja, 597 in Bemetara, 117 in Bijapur and 39 in Narayanpur.
