Yashoda files nomination in presence of party bigwigs

The Congress candidate for the Khairagarh Assembly byelection, Yashoda Verma, on Wednesday filed her nomination amid the presence of party leaders including Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and PCC chief Mohan Markam.

Addressing a gathering on the occasion here, Baghel said there were several faces in Khairagarh within the Congress who might have been a winning candidate.

“We had to select only one and that has been done. Now, after finalization of the name, all the Congress members must unitedly effort to make the candidate win,” he said.

Markam said the Congress will contest on the development plank.

“Earlier too we have won the elections going to the public with the development works executed by the Baghel government and this time too we will register a victory,” he said.

Later, in a procession, the Congress leaders and workers proceeded to the Zila Panchayat Bhawan where the nomination papers were filed.
