Gauthans realizing Gandhiji’s ‘Gram Suraj’ dream: Baghel

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday said Gauthans are playing an important role in giving impetus to the rural economy and in realizing the ‘Gram Suraj’ dream of Mahatma Gandhi.

He said this while addressing 76th annual convention of the Kurmi community in village Jarve in Balodabazar-Bhatapara district.

Gauthans in Chhattisgarh are being developed as livelihood centers to involve youth and women self-help groups in employment-oriented works, he said.

Baghel earlier inaugurated the conference by paying tribute to renowned personalities of the community.

He announced a one-day link court in Tehsil Palari in Balodabazar sub-division, a new library in the name of Swami Atmanand at the district headquarters and the commencement of Jarve Minor canal line.

Moreover, construction of a building for a new higher secondary school, boundary walls of primary health center, a commercial complex and a mini stadium was also announced.

He said that Gauthans are no more just a place of day-care for cattle; they are now being developed as an important center of rural livelihood.

The Chief Minister said his government was reviving the rural traditions through Godhan Nyay Yojana.
