Chhattisgarh Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Tuesday urged the Railway Board Chairman and Chief Executive Officer to restore local trains within and passing through the state.
The letter written by Additional Chief Secretary Subrat Sahoo stated that out of the 10 passenger trains cancelled for a month, eight are operated within the state while two pass through it.
No alternative arrangement has been put in place against the cancellation.
The letter states that during ‘Chaitra Navratra’ ,pilgrims and devotees from outside the state arrive by rail to visit the temples of goddesses.
Also, the local trains are used daily by traders, government and private staff, college and school students to reach their destinations.
The letter urged the Railways to immediately restore the train services.
Earlier, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel called the cancellation of the trains “an anti-people decision”.
