Chhattisgarh Civil Services Women Hockey Team Bags Bronze

Captain Anjum Rehman posted a goal right in the first minute of Semi- FinalsTeam bagged 4th position last year and won the Fair Play AwardCM Baghel and Sports Miner Umesh Patel congratulated the team.

Bhopal: The Civil Services tournament scheduled from June 21st to June 30th in Bhopal went extremely well for the Women Hockey Team of Chhattisgarh. The 16 players’ team aged between 24 years to 55 years clinched a bronze medal in hockey. Chief Miner Bhupesh Baghel along with Sports and Youth Development Miner appreciated this achievement and congratulated the women team.

The women hockey team posted its first goal in the very first minute of the semi- final match with Captain Anjum Rehman hitting the ball in the goal post. This came as a booster after which Tulsi Sahu scored 4 goals, Monika scored three, Maya Yadav, Savita Chandrakar scoed two goals each. All this took the tally of the team to 12 goals. The opposition team hailing from Bhopal found it very difficult to reach the goal post where Shweta Shinde did an exceptional defence work.

Earlier, the women hockey team participated in this Civil Services tournament in last year as well where they were restricted to 4th position in the points table. The team was rewarded with the Fair Play Award.
