Biswa Bhusan Harichandan Takes Oath as New Governor of C’grah
RAIPUR: Biswa Bhusan Harichandan took oath as the 9th governor of C’grah at a function in the Raj Bhawan Raipur today morning.
Harichandan served as the governor of Andhra Pradesh prior to replacing Anusiya Uikey. The change in the governorship of the state came amidst the ongoing scuffle about the delay in assent to the Reservation amendment bills passed the Legislative Assembly in December.
Chhattisgarh Chief Miner Bhupesh Baghel, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Narayan Chandel, state miners, and senior bureaucrats were present on the occasion.
Harichandan hails from Orissa and has served as the Miner of the state four times. He has also been elected as MLA five times. He was the founder president of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Odisha in 1980 and was elected as the state party’s chief for another three terms. He was also the BJP Legislature Party leader in the Odisha Assembly for 13 years from 1996 to 2009.
