Biswabhusan Harichandan to Take Oath as C’grahs New Governor on 23rd Feb

RAIPUR: Biswa Bhushan Harichandan who replaced Anusiya Uikey as the Governor of the Bhupesh Baghel ruled stated would take oath on February 23rd. Shifting of the incumbent Governor Anusuiya Uikey to Manipur and the appointment of new Governor comes at a time when the Congress government and the Raj Bhawan are at loggerheads over the delay in Governor’s assent to the 76 % reservation bills. All eyes will be on the new Governor as to how soon he would deal with the issue granting his assent to the contentious 76% reservation bills.
At a meeting chaired Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhavan in the prescence of officers from other departments, discussion on the swearing in program at the Raj Bhavan were done.
Necessary instructions were given to the officers regarding the arrangements for the guests and other arrangements.
The immediate task before the 88-year-old Governor will be to examine the reservation bills and to take a call on giving his assent for the two bills, which has become a politically contentious issue as the delay in the bills becoming a law has adversely affected the job and admission prospects of hundreds of youth belonging to the weaker sections of the society.
At a special session on December 2nd the CG leglative assembly passed two bills, one for reservation in jobs and another for quota in admissions to educational institutions.
Meanwhile, Sushri Anusuiya Uikye replaced La Ganesan, who has been appointed as the governor of Nagaland. Hailing from Madhya Pradesh, Anusuiya Uikye was the governor of Chhattisgarh prior to becoming the 18th governor of Manipur.
