CM Baghel Slams ED, Calls It a Threat To Democracy

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Miner Bhupesh Baghel has slammed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for conducting raids on the premises of his political advisor and two officers on special duty (OSDs). Baghel accused the BJP government at the center of using central agencies for political gains.
Reacting to the statement of BJP Chhattisgarh in-charge Om Mathur, CM Baghel advised him to wait an dwatch for unfolding events in upcoming two months.
“ED has become a threat to democracy”, wrote CM Baghel on X.

Earlier on Wednesday, the ED raided the premises of Baghel’s political advisor Vinod Verma and his two OSDs, Praveen Pandey and Rajesh Tiwari. The raids were conducted in connection with a money laundering investigation into a coal mining scam.
Baghel said that the ED raids were politically motivated and that the BJP was trying to defame his government. He said that the BJP was afraid of losing the upcoming assembly elections in Chhattisgarh and that they were using central agencies to intimidate his party leaders.
“The ED raids are a clear case of political vendetta. The BJP is afraid of losing the upcoming assembly elections in Chhattisgarh and that is why they are using central agencies to intimidate our party leaders,” Baghel said.
He also said that the ED had not found anything incriminating during the raids and that the agency was only trying to create a media spectacle.
“The ED has not found anything incriminating during the raids. They are only trying to create a media spectacle. The BJP is trying to divert attention from its own failures,” Baghel said.
