Conduct Classes on Sunday: State Education Dept

Schools to hold classes on Sunday for class 10 and 12 students to cope the lost learning hours. The decision was taken DEO in a meeting with principal and other stakeholders.Schools across state could operate if the positivity rate fell below 5 per cent.

Raipur: In order to compensate the learning hours lost while the schools were shut down during the Omicron led surge, the state education dept has announced classes for the board exam students of classes 10 and 12. According to the  Drict Education officer, this would help students cope with the lost learning time and acquire better knowledge to appear for the upcoming board exams.
The decision stemmed from a meeting held DEO, AN Banjara who instructed the Principal’s of all schools to conduct classes on Sunday, which would help them complete the syllabus.
Schools in Raipur resumed physical classes on Monday after the state health bulletin presented a declining COVID curve. Roughly, 3,80,027 students would appear for the class 10th board exam this year which as per the notice would be held in an offline format from March 3rd to 23.  As for Class 12th, nearly 2,93,425 candidates would appear for the exams scheduled from March 2nd to 30th.
Centre on 3rd February issuing the notice to resume schooling in dricts recording less than 5 per cent positivity rates, authorized the state govt to take call in this regard. Noting that the pandemic situation has improved and there has been a consent decline in new Covid-19 cases, NITI Ayog Member (Health) V K Paul said, “We have more confidence now to go in the direction of reopening schools.”
The Union Health Minry, the Education Minry, and other stakeholders held several discussions in this regard. According to sources, they were framing a model for staggered opening of schools for physical classes following all Covid-19 related protocols.
