Congress makes inroads into urban bodies: CM

The Congress has made inroads into urban bodies in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Thursday, adding that the BJP is nowhere in the picture.

The Congress has swept in maximum urban bodies and where it lacks majority the Mayor or Chairman of the Congress will be elected with the help of independents, he added.

Interacting with the media after returning from Uttar Pradesh, he said that the favourable electoral outcome has been received across the state. The credit goes to all the party leaders and workers for their hard work. The party has thus made inroads into urban areas also. It is also the mandate of the success of programmes of the Chhattisgarh government, he said.On the Uttar Pradesh visit, he said that the graph of the Congress is rising as most events held were successful.

Congress leaders were asked to file an affidavit for organising a public meeting at Lakhimpur Kheri. The condition imposed was that there should be no mention of the mowing incident of farmers or Ajay Mishra, the accused in the death of farmers.
