Congress to win Khairagarh, 2023 assly election too: CM

Expressing happiness over the huge turnout in the Khairagarh byelection, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday said it is a good sign that people voted enthusiastically.

Saying the election results “will be better”, Baghel said the work done by his government and over the formation of the new district were key issues for voters.

Baghel was interacting with the media before leaving for Surajpur.

He said it was a good trend that despite the scorching heat, a large number of people reached the polling booths. The Congress was winning with a huge majority, he insisted.

He added that the Congress government has been doing its job. Similar results will be seen in 2023 (state assembly election) as well.

On the court notice to former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh on charges of holding assets disproportionate to his known income, he said the Congress has been continuously raising the allegation. The order given by the court was welcome.

On the death of villagers in Dhamtari, he said, summer was also the season of Mahua. When elephants consume it, they become intoxicated. It can lead to a dangerous situation.

People should avoid going close to elephant herds, he said, adding that negligence can cost one’s life.
