Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana is likely to be ruled out from the ODI World Cup due to a shoulder injury. The Indian Express understands that Pathirana has complained about pain in his right shoulder after Pakan’s match in Hyderabad. He has been taking scans and has been assessed the team physio for the past week but his condition has not improved. Pathirana has played two matches in the tournament so far and has picked up only two wickets at almost ten runs per over.
The Sri Lanka Cricket on Thursday added former captain Angelo Matthews and Dushmantha Chameera as travelling reserves and the duo will join the team on Friday morning.
Sri Lanka had already lost their skipper Dasun Shanaka to a thigh injury as he has been sidelined for at least three weeks. All-rounder Chamika Karunaratne has replaced Shanaka. Sri Lanka are also without leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, who was ruled out of the World Cup with an injury.
