Rs 96.48 cr ex-gratia released for Covid deaths

The Chhattisgarh government has released an amount of Rs 96.48 crore as ex-gratia for the family members of the Covid deceased.

According to data released by the state government, a total of 22,310 applications came claiming deaths due to Covid-19 across the state. Of this, 19,462 were found eligible.

Ex-gratia amount of maximum 14.72 crore was released for Raipur district. Durg accounted for Rs 14.67 crore, Bilaspur Rs 7.81 crore, Raigarh Rs 6.59 crore and Rajnandgaon Rs 6.64 crore, an official statement said.

The District Collectors had released an amount of Rs 50,000 as ex-gratia to family members of each Covid deceased. This amount was given under the Disaster Relief Fund (DRF).

The instructions followed a Supreme Court ruling and directives from the Disaster Management Authority.
