‘Farmers need not worry’
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday assured the farmers that they need not worry due to the halting of paddy procurement on support price.
He said that bad weather for the past few days had affected the paddy procurement in the state. But the farmers need not to worry.
As soon as the weather gets better, the procurement will be expedited, an official communication said.
The Chief Minister held a review meeting with Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey to take the necessary steps so that procurement can be expedited when weather normalizes.
Baghel said that paddy will be procured from all the registered farmers in the state.
He said the last date for procurement of paddy is January 31 and the government is making every possible effort to achieve 100 per cent of the target. If required, this can be extended for the convenience of the farmers.
