India’s 5th Suspected Monkeypox Case in CG; Samples Collected

Raipur: The CG Health Department detected a suspected case of Monkeypox in Raipur in the oldtown ship of the capital city Raipur on Wednesday. Reportedly, The victim is a 12-year-old child, Kishore who presented similar symptoms during his visit to the Dr BR Ambedkhar Hospital.

According to DMO Dr Meera Baghel, the infected individual presented all symptoms at the OPD and is quarantined in the hospital itself.” The child lives at a hostel at Raipur and is a native of Kanker. We have taken the samples of the patient and sent them for testing to Pune, she said.”

Samples of another 18 from the same facility have been collected and the facility is sealed, she added. ” The case shall be confirmed once the reports are received,” the DMO said concluding her interaction with the media.

Previously, the fort had detected a similar suspect in a child studying tat Sanskrit Pathshala of Jaitu Saw Math in Raipur. The priest taking note of the situation informed the Municipal corporation. The officials acted immediately on the report and disinfected the temple sealing it for 1 week. Around 20 other disciples of the clinic have also been isolated.
