IPL Racket Busted in Chhattisgarh; 12 Arrested

Bookies were held for betting between Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings.Cash of Rs 2040, Satta-Patti of Rs 1.70 lakh and a mobile confiscated. Case regered under 193/2022 Section 4 (a) of the Gambling Act.

Rajnandgaon: Acting on a tip-off Lalbagh inspector Shivendra Rajput, arrested 12 for allegedly taking bets on IPL matches. The accused were said to be betting on the match between Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings, held at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on April 3rd, where PBKS won 54 runs.

As per the information given the senior officer, the accused is identified as Bablu alias Karim Mughal, a resident of Atal Awas Pendri. He added that a patrolling team was sent on receiving information about the bet and the bookies were held while taking the bet.

Rs 2040, including Satta-Patti of Rs 1.70 lakh and mobile are confiscated a crime under 193/2022 Section 4 (a) of the Gambling Act. Reportedly, the police held an encounter as the accused tried to flee from the spot.
