Need clarity on Mayawati, not sure who she is with”: Sharad Pawar

Earlier, the Bahujan Samaj Party leader had said that everyone wants to join his party, but if he refuses, the opposition will accuse him of colluding with the BJP.
There is a question mark over who Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati is and there is speculation that she is aligned with the BJP, Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar said on Wednesday.
At a press conference ahead of a key meeting of the opposition Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) starting tomorrow in Mumbai, Mr Pawar was asked about the alliance’s stance on Mayawati, who has declared herself neutral.

“There is a question about who Mayawati is. There is speculation that she is with the BJP. I do not claim that it is true, but it is necessary to explain it,” replied the head of the NKP.

Mr Pawar’s comments come on a day Mayawati has ruled out any alliance with India or the NDA. He said that everyone is interested in an alliance with his party, but if he refuses, the opposition will accuse him of colluding with the BJP.
In a series of posts on erstwhile Twitter X, the BSP leader said that both the alliances mostly consist of parties with anti-poor, casteist, communal and capitalist policies. He said it was a policy his party fought against. Just like 2007, BSP will contest the upcoming elections of Lok Sabha and four State Assemblies alone by uniting millions of neglected/separated members of the society on the basis of mutual brotherhood instead of manipulation by our opponents. The media should not spread misconceptions,” said the BSP leader.
Everyone is interested in an alliance with BSP, but if I am not, the opposition will demand an alliance with BJP. If you are allied with them you are secular and if you are not then you are BJP. It is very unfair and is like saying that the grapes are sour,” he wrote in Hindi. The BSP and its bitter rival Samajwadi Party have announced an alliance for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. While Mayawati’s party managed to win 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav-led party won five seats.
