Virender Sehwag, Diana Edulji and Aravinda de Silva have been inducted into the ICC’s Hall of Fame. The trio will be honoured ahead of the first semi-final of the ODI World Cup between India and New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium.
Aravainda de Silva, the 110th inductee on the l, had a 19-year career representing Sri Lanka, notably playing a big role in their 1996 World Cup triumph.
“This achievement is a tribute to the dedication, sacrifice, and love that have shaped my cricketing journey,” De silva said in a ICC release.

De Silva has played 93 Tests and 308 ODIs for Sri Lanka. He announced his retirement after the 2003 ODI World Cup. he signed off with 15,645 international runs 135 wickets.
Edulji, No. 111 in ICC’s Hall of Fame, represented India for 17 years, and is the first Indian woman to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. She has played T20 Tests and 34 ODIs for India nad has bagged 63 and 46 wickets, respectively. the time she retired after the 1993 World Cup, only Lyn Fullston had taken more wickets in all forms of international cricket.Most Read

“It indeed is a great honour to be the first Indian women’s cricketer to be inducted and join a galaxy of cricketers, male and female from across the world. I am delighted to be considered for this award,” said Diana.
Sehwag, the legendary Indian opener has played a pivotal role in India’s two World Cup wins — 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup. He has revolutionised the opener’s role in Test cricket and ended up scoring more runs at a greater rate than anyone in Test hory. He played 104 Tests, 251 ODIs and 19 T20Is for India and has amassed over 17,000 runs in international cricket.
“I feel extremely grateful for having spent a great part of my life doing what I loved most, ‘hitting the cricket ball’. I would also like to thank my family, friends, people I played with, and countless people who prayed for me selflessly,” said Sehwag.
