“Votes on Achievements, Not Ram,” Says CM Bhupesh Baghel

Raipur: With the Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh approaching, Chief Miner Bhupesh Baghel and his ruling Congress party are stepping up their campaign strategies. Their main focus is to highlight the changes brought about their governance. Recently CM Bhupesh Baghel confidently expressed during a News Summit program that his party has never sought votes invoking figures. He emphasized that they appeal for votes based on their achievements rather than religious sentiments, as they firmly believe in keeping politics and religion separate as our culture teaches.
Highlighting the accomplishments of his tenure, Baghel pointed out that during the BJP regime, Chhattisgarh was mostly associated with mining controversies and Naxalite incidents; however, under his adminration’s efforts, that narrative has been transformed. Furthermore, he shed light on Chhattisgarh’s heritage and how many people were unaware of the deep connection between Lord Ram and this state. Something that his government has actively emphasized.
Shining a spotlight on the initiatives launched under his leadership, Baghel stressed the importance of making agriculture sustainable and profitable while aligning with Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of self villages. He advocated for villages to become production centres while cities act as marketing hubs. A concept that his government’s determined to revive.
“Even though we have faced two years because of the COVID 19, we have remained dedicated, to advancing the well-being of both rural and urban areas “, he stated.
Former CM Raman Singh criticized Baghel’s government over alleged irregularities in purchasing cow dung. Dismissing the claims, Baghel retorted, “Even if cow dung is imported from neighboring states at Rs 5 per kg, consider the transportation costs involved.” Addressing the issue of poverty, he proudly stated that, based on a Policy Commission report, approximately 40 lakh individuals have risen above the poverty line during his tenure.
