‘You’re taking on an entire country here’: After Matthew Hayden and Ricky Ponting, Justin Langer hits out at Ollie Robinson

Former Australia coach Justin Langer has joined his former teammates Matthew Hayden and Ricky Ponting has stepped up his war of words with England seamer Ollie Robinson calling him “silly.”
Robinson has been at the centerstage in the first Test where he had a run-in with Usman Khawaja, in which he had told him “f**k off, you f***ing prick” after bowling him for 141 in the first innings. In the second innings James Anderson had to pull Robinson away from another confrontation with Khawaja, who scored a fey 65.
Speaking after the incident, Robinson singled out Ponting, and said “We’ve all seen Ricky Ponting and other Aussies do the same to us, and just because the shoe is on the other foot it’s not received well.”
In his column for The Telegraph, Langer wrote Robinson was asking for trouble.
“When I woke up to the press, my eyebrows were raised at more than the Khawaja spat. I grinned, shook my head and thought ‘silly boy’. I had a pretty good idea what was going to happen next,” he wrote.
“Sledge ex-captain Ponting, the much-loved little master of Australia, and there is always going to be a backlash. You’re taking on an entire country here.”
“It’s OK to have a chat, but make sure you back it up. A send-off, a crack at a legend and a prediction of “three No 11’s” when those same ‘bunnies’ hit the winning runs. Junk-yard dogs tend to bark,” he added.
Langer’s former opening partner Matthew Hayden has described Robinsin as a “forgettable cricketer”, and suggested that his opinions were not in keeping with his talents.
“He’s a fast bowler that is bowling 124kph nude nuts and he’s got a mouth from the south,” Hayden told SEN Radio in Australia. “Someone like him, you can just go, ‘Brother, I’m coming at ya’. Davey Warner can do that, right. He can just say, ‘You’re bowling 120′.”
Former Australia captain, Ricky Ponting also took aim at Robinson.
“This England cricket team hasn’t played against Australia, and they’ll find out pretty quickly what playing Ashes cricket and playing against a good Australian cricket team is all about,” Ponting said on an ICC podcast.
“And if Robinson hasn’t learned that already after last week, then he’s a slow learner.”
